Amazing Pretty & Personal Thirty Guest Wedding

WWW readers Kathryn and Phil are joining us with their thirty guest wedding today held at Pennard House in Somerset on the 10th September 2020. Their original wedding date was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and they had to postpone from July to September. However their wedding day tuned out just perfectly. I really love that forged ahead against all odds and had the most amazing day.

Firstly they were married outdoors beneath the gazebo before holding their reception in the pretty barn. They had gorgeous roses throughout, the most gorgeous outfits and lovely personal touches. The wooden signs were a real highlight for me as was the incredible cake table. Proof that micro weddings can be magnificent! Thirty Guest Wedding

The Proposal

23rd Sept 2018. We were on holiday in Palma Mallorca. He did it on a little isolated beach in the evening when we arrived.

The Vision

Classic x modern x slightly rustic theme. I like rose gold touches. We enjoyed making the welcome signs and table decorations for a more personal feel. We knew we wanted lots of fresh flowers, roses in particular.

The Planning Process

We had 2 years of planning. Our original date would have been 2nd July, but obviously had to postpone due to covid. So there were a few last minute decisions we had to make in regards to who could come with our 30 guest limit. We booked the venue, caterers and photographer first, shortly followed by hair, makeup and flowers. We wanted to get as much booked as we could as early as possible. This was to avoid any stress nearer the date, and to ensure our first choices had availability.

Budget

We didn’t have a budget in mind. We were careful not to spend too much, hence why we made a few bits ourself, but we also made sure we had everything we wanted.

The Venue

Pennard House (East Pennard). It was only the 2nd place we looked at, and both loved it straight away. It was perfect for us.

The Readings & Music

We didn’t have any readings. For the music we did make our own playlists. We had the traditional wedding march whilst I walked down the aisle, and our favourite song ‘your arms feel like home’ by 3 doors down as we walked back up the aisle together. We had a chilled vibe of music whilst we had our meal, then more dancey songs for the evening.

Your Outfits & Accessories

Dress – Wed2b in Bristol. It was so nice to try on a few different styles. As soon as I put my dress on it just felt right. When I saw how much my mum loved it I knew it was the one. My shoes were my something old! I knew they were comfy and went with the colour scheme! I wore a matching rose gold bracelet, and Phil bought me some Tiffany earrings that I opened on the morning of the wedding. Phil’s suit was from a place called Suits Direct in Clarks village. He had seen a picture of it in the window and loved it.

Beauty

My hair (and my 4 bridesmaids) was done by Abigail Constanza. I always knew I wanted Abi to do my wedding hair ever since she did my hair as a bridesmaid a couple of years ago. She is super talented.

My makeup (and my 4 bridesmaids and my mum) was done by Nina Norman. I hadn’t actually originally booked Nina. She stepped in after my original makeup artist was called up for jury service. She was super lovely about it, and had already sorted Nina before she called me. Nina was amazing, and her natural look style suited everyone really well. Hair and makeup lasted so well all day!

My sister in law (Philippa) did my nails the day before.

The Flowers

We used Luce from ‘Luce Loves Flowers’ in Street. Her shop is a 10 minute walk from our house and it always looks so pretty. She supplied us with the bouquets, buttonholes, and a large garland that went on the banister by the cake table. It was so pretty!

The Cake

Was made by a lady called Tereza from ‘T’s All Occasion Cakes’ I saw that a few of my friends had recommend her on Facebook so had a look at her photos. She lives not too far from the venue, so this was handy for the delivery. My mum (Rachel) made the cupcakes and tray bakes also. She is amazing at making cakes, but didn’t want the pressure of making the main cake!

Your Photographer

Jackie from ‘Fox & Beau’ We first found her on the bride book app and her style of photos stood out for us. After a meeting with her we decided that we would love to use her. She’s super lovely and easy to talk to. She made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, even though we both hate our photo being taken. She captured some really amazing photos from the day, and we just can’t thank her enough.

The Details & Décor

The main decoration that we had was the fresh flowers that were used on the staircase and on the tables. The tables were also decorated with lanterns, tea lights, and empty coke jars decorated with hessian string. We included a separate table with photos of our late grandparents on, surrounded by tea lights.

Groomsmen

We only had a best man (James) due to the number restrictions. He wore the exact same suit as Phil. It was lovely that they were matching.

Bridesmaids

2 of the dresses were from Next, the other 2 from ASOS. They were all the same design but 2 were blush pink and 2 were grey. I knew I always wanted different colours, and feel that these worked so well.

The Honeymoon

Well we would have gone to New York and Mexico in September. We postponed it until March next year but still unsure whether we will be able to go or not due to covid. We managed a little mini moon after the wedding though. We were gifted a camping trip with the dogs just to get away and chill out for a couple of days!

Memorable Moments

It was all so amazing and flowed so well. My favourite part was probably walking down the aisle with my mum. Phil’s most memorable thing was the food!! The guests most memorable moment would probably be my Grandad with the worlds noisiest beeping mobility scooter!

Advice For Other Couples

Don’t stress when it comes to planning your wedding. Everything works out in the end. Be as organised as you can. Even though the date may seem ages away, it soon creeps up! Just enjoy it. It honestly does fly by so make the most of it.
