Of all the Irish wedding venue round-ups on the site, this one was probably the toughest feature to put together. It's not that Ireland is lacking in incredible wedding venues - quite the opposite, actually! - it's because it's hard to nail down a definition for a festival wedding, as these types of celebration tend to be characterised by the feel and vibe. Even in the One Fab Day office, we have slightly different opinions on the ideal festival wedding venue set-up, but, for the purpose of this feature, narrowed it down to four factors, along with the obligatory countryside location: glamping accommodation, unique or boho-style tent spaces, unique outdoor areas, and the option to have a woodland ceremony. So, in choosing our favourite festival wedding venues in Ireland, this is exactly what we looked for!

The good news is that, if you're looking to throw a festival-style celebration in Ireland, you've got lots of options beyond the venues on this list. Any wedding venue that can be exclusively yours for your wedding day and beyond, known as an exclusive hire venue, is perfect for replicating the offbeat, colourful and spontaneous atmosphere of your favourite music festival, as are most alternative, country house and barn wedding venues. Outdoor spaces really add to the festival buzz, so garden party-style venues often fit the brief, too. Rock Farm Slane

Boasting a unique collection of outdoor ceremony and reception spaces, Rock Farm Slane is a festival-style wedding venue in the beautiful Meath countryside that still manages to feel high end - there's a hot tub, for crying out loud! Located just 45 minutes from Dublin, among lush fields, meadows and an enchanting forest, on a very private part of the Slane Castle Estate, Rock Farm Slane offers couples a fun hay barn, which can host up to 250 guests for dinner, as well as a cool spider tent that's perfect for ceremonies. Horetown House

A family-run country house with a 300-year history, Horetown House in Co. Wexford is an exceptionally special place, and one that always manages to charm the pants off creative and offbeat couples! The venue is incredibly versatile - although it's known for hosting epic parties of up to 220 guests, it can also host groups of up to 50 in The White Room, and groups of up to 80 in their indoor pole tent, known as The Garden Room. Wherever you choose to host your reception, a fun, relaxed atmosphere is guaranteed, as are gorgeous wedding photographs - every last inch of this venue is decorated with impeccable style! From Summer 2020 onwards, Horetown House will offer on-site glamping in the form of their Shepherd's Hut Village, which can accommodate up to 64 guests.

Inish Beg Estate

Located on a private island off the coast of West Cork, accessible by bridge, Inish Beg Estate is like no other wedding venue in Ireland! The 97-acre estate is home to luxury, self-catering accommodation for up to 52 guests, an indoor pool, steam room and spectacular coastal views. The carefully-kept gardens are ideal for gorgeous wedding portraits, while the beautiful woodland pond, known as Hannibal's H2O, is a lovely spot for outdoor ceremonies. Reception spaces include the pretty Octagon marquee, but the estate can also accommodate larger marquees if necessary. An enchanting, exclusive-hire wedding venue with impeccable food and a stylish, permanent marquee, Clonabreaney House in Kells is the kind of venue your guests will be raving about for years to come. We've seen lots of unique and whimsical wedding ceremonies take place in the epic surroundings of the nearby forest, so this is a massive selling point for us! We also love the pretty, tranquil Orchard Room, which looks out onto Sliabh na Caillighe and the mystical Loughcrew Cairns, and can seat up to 220 guests for dinner. The Millhouse

An exclusive-hire wedding venue with lots of unique features, The Millhouse is a charming estate and Georgian manor house on the banks of the Boyne in Slane. Couples can choose between an atmospheric ceremony in the Old Mill or saying their vows outside under a beautiful orchard. After the ceremony, guests can enjoy drinks in the courtyard before heading into the Pavilion - the perfect blank canvas space for creative couples. With options for weddings big and small, The Millhouse combines laid-back vibes with luxurious surroundings. There's also a riverside camping area, complete with hot showers, which can accommodate up to 100 guests across bell tents and shepherds' huts.

Cloughjordan House

An impressive, 800-year-old country house tucked away in an idyllic corner of the Tipperary countryside, Cloughjordan House is set on eight acres of sweeping lawns and ancient trees. Lisnavagh House and Gardens

An exclusive-hire venue in Rathvilly, Co. Carlow, Lisnavagh House and Gardens is a relaxed and luxurious option for couples who appreciate the finer things in life, but also want the freedom to create a bespoke wedding day. Run by the Bunbury family since 1702, Lisnavagh is dripping with grandeur - the house itself has been carefully modernised to retain as many period features as possible - but is also well-suited to a festival-inspired celebration. Loughcrew House

Located just an hour from Dublin, Loughcrew House in Meath is one of Ireland's best-kept secrets. Boasting a 19th century manor house and neo-classical portico remains, it's a truly unique spot. Two things earned this venue a place on our list of festival wedding venues in Ireland; the buzzy courtyard, which is perfect for drinks receptions and outdoor speeches, and the ruins of St. Oliver Plunkett’s Family Church in the grounds of Loughcrew Gardens, an otherworldly ceremony space surrounded by five-thousand-year-old cairns and ancient yew trees. Liss Ard Estate

A historic country house located in idyllic West Cork, Liss Ard Estate offers the perfect combination of beautiful surroundings and world-class service. The 163-acre estate boasts stunning gardens, woodlands, and meadows, and a private lake, as well as the James Turrell Sky Garden, a totally unique stargazing spot! Ballyvolane House

One of Ireland's premier festival wedding venues, Ballyvolane House is a stylish and luxurious Georgian country house estate and a surprisingly versatile one at that! Between the rustic dining terrace, cosy glamping accommodation, and incredibly cool ceremony barn, the options for your big day are endless, and you're sure to fall in love with the venue the moment you set foot on its well-groomed grounds. Gin lovers will be thrilled to learn that Bertha's Revenge, a beloved small-batch gin, is distilled on the premisis, and foodies are in for a treat when they sample the flavoursome, locally-grown cuisine.

Virginia Park Lodge

A lakeside location, naturalistic gardens and incredible food masterminded by Michelin-starred chef Richard Corrigan combine to make Virginia Park Lodge a truly unique wedding venue. Airfield Estate

If you're looking for incredible food, peaceful surroundings and an easy-to-reach location, you'll be instantly won over by Airfield Estate in South Dublin. A working urban farm located just 15 minutes from the city centre, it's a beautiful, sprawling sanctuary that also serves as a one-of-a-kind wedding venue. Hidden away on 38 acres of farmland, you'll find lots of lovely ceremony options, including the rose-climbing pergola in the walled gardens, which feels more like a wild, woodland setting than a traditional, manicured garden. Well-suited to intimate weddings of 30, all the way up to larger bashes of 120, Airfield Estate is one of our favourite Dublin venues, so it's definitely worth a visit.

The Station House Hotel

A wedding venue housed in a former train station, The Station House Hotel in Kilmessan, Co. Meath has a truly extraordinary back story! Now the site of chic celebrations, it retains much of its original charm, and can easily be adapted to suit lots of different styles of weddings. For a festival-style affair, you'll definitely want to consider an outdoor ceremony at the stone turntable in the woods, where trains once turned for their journey back to Dublin, which, these days, feels like an intimate amphitheatre. For dinner and dancing, the Carriage Suite can seat up to 190 people comfortably, while smaller wedding parties are perfect for the light-filled Signal Restaurant, which seats up to 80. The Carriage Rooms at Montalto

Located just 30 minutes from Belfast in the County Down countryside, The Carriage Rooms at Montalto is one of our favourite wedding venues for a luxurious and romantic celebration. The beautifully-manicured gardens are a knockout spot for an outdoor ceremony, but the distinctive stone walls and illuminated arches of The Sawmill are pretty special too. With a maximum capacity of 180 guests, the converted Carriage Rooms and adjacent outdoor space combine to make an outrageously cool reception venue. It helps that The Carriage Rooms at Montalto also boasts an experienced wedding team, exceptional cuisine and some utterly gorgeous backdrops for photos.

The Village Barn

A unique, village-style barn wedding venue in Co. Westmeath that's bursting with laid-back charm, The Village Barn boasts a quaint chapel called The Sanctuary, a charming barn reception space, a light-filled Orangery that's perfect for post-ceremony drinks, and a cosy pub called Willies Bar. A unique, romantic and rustic wedding venue comprising three incredible, recently-restored barn spaces, Juniper Barn boasts a backdrop of a Georgian house, estate walls, mature gardens, woodlands and a lake brimming with wildlife.
